Ehecatl Chavez was born in Tianguistengo, Hidalgo, a small village in northern Mexico. He moved to Mexico City when he was quite young, and lived there for most of his childhood. When it came time to attend college, he applied to Drama and Architecture School at National Autonomous University of Mexico City (UNAM). Mr. Chavez finished a three-year program, receiving a bachelor of Arts degree in Acting. To enhance his work experience, Mr. Chavez went to New York and ed the Actor's Studio workshop program. His New York City premiere in the play 'Kelly' played to critical acclaim and enthusiastic audiences at the Shapiro Theatre. At age 27, Mr. Chavez became the youngest theater director at the Drama School at Veracruzana University, one of the most prestigious in Latin America. He did a remarkable job directing a very complex and thought provoking script, 'To Die' by Sergi Belbel. Mr. Chavez has appeared in over fifteen plays in Mexico City, including 'Paramo', 'Temblo', and 'El Suplicante'. Several of the projects he performed in went on to enjoy national tours, broadening the scope of his creative vocabulary even further. Mr. Chavez breakthrough to American cinema came when he was cast in Mexico to appear in the action film,Collateral Damage (2002), starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Hide
